Unit 404 of St. Louis Service Women’s Post 404
Our Mission: " In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families...”
Unit 404 of the St. Louis Service Women's Post 404 proudly supports the programs of both The American Legion and Auxiliary. We are here to support the veterans of this great country. As a unit of an all women post, we focus on the issues effecting the women of the armed forces.
Hello and Welcome! My name is Lori Yount, and I am the president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 404. The American Legion Auxiliary is comprised of the male and female spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters and direct or adopted descendants of Veterans or members of the American Legion. Some of our Unit members are veterans also. Some choose to become “dual members” of both the American Legion and the Auxiliary!
Unit 404 supports our veterans in various ways, including assisting Post 404 with activities and events, coordinating collection drives for Forces for Food (Jefferson Barracks Food Pantry), and volunteering with Wreaths Across America. We distribute poppies to raise awareness of the sacrifices made by our veterans and to raise funds to help veterans in need. The Auxiliary provides clothing and other material items to veterans at our Veterans Homes and Hospitals as well as through programs such as the annual Creative Arts Festival. As a Unit associated with an all-women’s Legion Post, the needs of our female veterans are important to us.
Our Unit also supports children and youth in the St. Louis Metro area through our annual school supply drive and by sponsoring a high school junior to attend Missouri Girls State each Summer.
If you have a heart for giving back to veterans and your community, we’d love to have you join us! We welcome your visiting us at an upcoming meeting. We meet the 3rd Saturday of the month, at 9:30 am, at American Legion Post 111 in Shrewsbury, MO. (7300 Lansdowne Ave, at the intersection of Murdoch Cutoff and Lansdowne Ave) We generally do not meet in December due to our volunteer efforts with Wreaths Across America. For more details or updates on meetings or other upcoming activities, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Help us bring a solider home for the holidays. The mission is to
“Remember, Honor, and Teach.”
The goal each year is for every grave to have a wreath. You can help make that happen by sponsoring a wreath through Unit 404.Simply go to https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/pages/163890/Overview/?relatedId=16564 and select how many wreaths you would like to sponsor. Each wreath is only $17. You may choose grave-specific, military branch-specific, or simply sponsor a wreath and volunteers will pick a grave for you. There are other options on the website to honor our heroes past and present. Thank you in advance for your support of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 404.
Please stop by and visit us at our monthly meeting which is held the third Saturday of most months. See the Calendar for dates and details. No regular meeting in July for Officer Installation.
We meet at American Legion Post 111, 7300 Lansdowne Avenue, Shrewsbury, MO 63119. The membership meeting begins at 9:30 am. Click for map & directions.
